Published Editors and Authors
We hope that you have enjoyed the experience of publishing with Pickering & Chatto and that there is an opportunity for us to work together in the future. Please see below for information on royalties, purchasing Pickering & Chatto titles and our ongoing marketing efforts.
Royalties
We pay our royalties annually in October accounting for sales achieved in our preceding financial year which runs July to June.
It is essential that you keep us informed of your correct contact details (full postal address + email address). Changes can be sent either to royalties@pickeringchatto.co.uk or to your current commissioning editor. We regret that we will have to charge an admin charge for any cheque that has to be re-issued because the original has been sent to an old address – unless we have previously been informed.
Our statements for 2009–10 have been generated using a new, clearer system. We are no longer making a 5% withholding for returns. For those who have received payments before October 2009 – their statements will include the reimbursement of the 5% withholding from the previous year.
Our monograph authors and editors may receive royalties on eBook as well as print sales. This comes under the category ‘other revenue’.
Revenue from eBooks is increasingly complicated with varying amounts received for short term loans, consortia sales and multi-user access models as well as outright single copy purchase. Because of this we are not able to give a figure on eBook unit sales.
We currently have a minimum payment threshold of £40.00. For payments due on the period 2012–13 this threshold will increase to £60.00
All royalties are accounted for and paid in £stg
Buying Pickering & Chatto Books
One of the advantages of publishing with Pickering & Chatto is that we offer a very generous discount off any of our titles. This discount is currently set at 60%. Purchasing at this discount does come with some conditions:
- The discount cannot be combined with any other price promotions
- All books purchased at this discount must be for personal use or for gifts to friends and family. This discount cannot be used to buy copies on behalf of libraries.
- All purchases are subject to availability
- Authors/Editors are limited to using this discount to purchase a maximum of ten copies of their own work unless by special arrangement
To apply for your author/editor discount, please send an email to sales@pickeringchatto.co.uk with details of the following:
- a list of titles that you wish to buy
- the full invoice and delivery address (if different)
- a contact number for the delivery address
You will be sent a proforma invoice from one of our distributors (Ashgate Publishing for North and South America, Turpin Distribution for the rest of the world) which will summarize the titles, discount and postage costs with your payment options.
We currently only sell our titles in electronic formats via third parties and consequently are not able to offer any discounts.
Marketing
We will continue to promote your title while it remains in print through our website, subject catalogues, series leaflets, conferences and review coverage. We particularly want to hear about any relevant conferences you are participating in. Please email the details to Simon Hagan
