This collection was compiled by John Ramsay McCulloch in the 1850s for Lord Overstone and represents a complete selection of the work of his predecessors by a considerable economist for his professional colleagues. It contains many important pamphlets and short works which are unavailable as well as other better-known works reprinted in full in one edition for the first time.
Classical economist, writer and teacher John Ramsay McCulloch (1789– 1864) contributed regularly to the Scotsman and Edinburgh Review; and in 1828 was appointed the first professor of political economy at London University. McCulloch was also a keen book collector and after his death his library was purchased by Lord Overstone and ultimately presented to Reading University.
Each volume contains a preface and notes by McCulloch, and an original index.

Reviews
